Let us know how it works, looks like it may be well worth while. Although I do like my cordless mouse...
A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week. A pint of sweat, saves a gallon of blood. No poor bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other bastards die for their country.

I'm not a big fan of things I have to charge constantly, or replace batteries on... I went to Fry's and checked out the MX1000, but didn't like how bulky it was, or how heavy it was.
I've been using an mx310 at work for 8 months or so, so I should find the mx580 fairly easy to get used to as they're both about the same size.
The ironic thing was that I went to Fry's to find the mx580 and all they had was the mx510 and of course their price on that was more than what my parts vendor at work wanted for the mx580...
It seemed like a pretty simple decision to me!

I have one of these....(MX1000) now, myself... Just got it a little over a week ago, and so far so good... don't see much difference in the cordless optical I also have (also Logitech - man they make most all the mouses out nowdays dont they? )... except for the fact that i never need to change batteries again. hehehe <--- that sure saves on money.M4v3r1ck wrote:I purchased an MX 1000 today. Just letting the batteries fully charge before I spark this up and give it a whirl.
My last mouse was an MX500 but it was a corded optical. Nothing wrong with it. If the MX1000 is supposed to be a better gaming mouse, I figured I'd give it a try.

well, I've been playing with the mx518 for a few days now... I definately like it after I got used to having a larger mouse to play with, but I honestly believe that the 1600dpi is just too much of an overkill for most games...
The switching between dpi is almost a worthless feature to me to be honest, I haven't really found a good use for it yet.
You can although AFAIK program those buttons to other things in game, as they are in pretty good spots for speedy access...
