So after almost 2 years I finally got my comp running at home again. I have been checking in on the forums from work once in a while but now I might be able to spend some time on this at home, much easier....
Hope all is well with everyone. I have a couple hickups with my comp but within the next couple of days should be fully functional (as good as this old baby can be anyway). L4D and COD may be in the list of to dos.
Been quite busy with the house addition and interior renovations, but for the most part that is complete now. Just a Jacuzzi and the deck to complete this summer.
Been doing some traveling, been to LA twice this winter as well as Hawaii so it has been a lot of fun.
Post a reply and lets see whom is still active.

Re: Heh All
I'm here but my game time is taken with graduate school and internship. Another year and I'll be done and I can recoup some gaming time. I tried to devote meaningful time to World of Warcraft but the time my brother the time just isn't there. I read Rico trolling around in here killing Day of Defeat zombie Nazis or something. I confess having missed the ease of a quick FPS shooter and a game like COD - back in the day when we had some numbers and a lot of time, Teamspeak, and the will to take aim. That was real fun.
I miss that.

You, sir, missed some great action today. It was pretty awesome.Crappy Pants wrote:I'm here but my game time is taken with graduate school and internship. The in-game voice comms work fine, and the maps are so small as to be able to run from one side to the other in about 20 seconds.
Of course, you don't get to because of all the damn zombies, but getting there is half the fun. ALL the fun, really.
I sure could have used a couple of gunmen today - the mod makes capping the flags ever harder as time goes on. Level 6 requires 3 Allieds per flag to cap, but only one zombie per flag to take. Also, it takes about a minute for those three to capture. The zombie only takes about 10-15 seconds. Level 6 is almost impossible, even when all the zombies are bots.
You guys would have had a great time. Three of the top players were on this afternoon, and it was AWESOME. Last night, I played with the mod writer, and he was having a pretty good time.
It really is one of those games that you can just jump in and play 15 minutes. And there's never any pressure to stay longer if you have to drop. Plenty of folks come and go during a round.

I fired up STEAM and updated the sock. It's DOD:Source? And then where does one obtain the MOD?

Left4DOD info.
It is DOD:Source. The way to get all the files for the client side is to get onto one of their Left4DOD servers. The d/l *should* happen automatically.Crappy Pants wrote:I fired up STEAM and updated the sock. It's DOD:Source? And then where does one obtain the MOD?
I think it took less than 2 minutes when I first jumped in. Skins and some sounds, and that's about it.
To get the IPs of the servers (there are at least 4 Left4DOD servers), you can go to www.theville.org, and the servers are on the first page.
TheVille.Org IV - 66.238.135.142:27015
TheVille.Org IX - 66.240.202.11:27025
TheVille.Org XV - 69.162.99.28:27015 (co-op server)
TheVille.Org XI - 203.217.24.60:27015 (Australian server - good for night d/ls because there's no game traffic)
I'm going to try and get on tonight about 9PM to play.

Still around, still playing Quake2 for FPS and World of
Warcraft otherwise.
Game time recently has been limited due to illnesses
of myself and my parents. I managed to get a torn
retina in my right eye, now recovering after surgery.
My parents have had long fullfilling lives but are now
nearing the end.
