Data's progress

Post by Dataspel »

Level 26 hunter, still in StoneTalon mts.
My son tells me that dungeons are a good way to
level up. I will try to be online 7:00 pm Pacific time for 1 hour
each night this week, if anyone can assist. I don't know how
to find or execute dungeon instances unless I happen to
run across one during a quest.

Later - Thanks AW, I was able to find a dungeon party, now level 27.

Thanks guys for the dungeon run tonight!
It gave me a chance to try out the Plantronics Gamecon headset,
although it took me awhile to figure out that the folks chatting on the
CotC channel were the same ones I was in the dungeon with :)
For the rest of tonight, I have to go back to writing code, but hope
to be all caught up with work by the end of the week.

You were in Vent? Lol! Next time we do a run me 'n Baron will have to load it up. Since we're gaming together in the same room now I never need to think of voice chat.

Gnomeregan is a horrible horrible place... After 30 it stops sending you there thank god.

Level 31. I am learning that there are many ways to navigate Gnomeregan,
and most of them will get you killed.

Level 35 tonight after some good dungeon runs.
Going to try to get to 40 by the end of the weekend
so I can finally wear my armor. Quests are getting
a little confusing though. My home inn is Orgrimmar
but I am going to change it to Undercity i think,
then try to learn my way around there.

These are kind of obsolete but still work. Check the Azeroth 1-60, it might help. It only shows the quests that give you the most exp without having to go allover the place...
http://www.evilgrunt.com/level/

Also Questhelper is a handy mod for levelling
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addo ... elper.aspx
but it's kind of a hog depending on your machine.

Another option is Tourguide
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addo ... guide.aspx
which will show you where to go with TomTom
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/i ... omTom.html
and will lead you to the quest givers with Lightheaded
http://wowinterface.com/downloads/info7 ... eaded.html

Personally, I use the tourguide setup and Carbonite

Thanks, I got Tourguide and Carbonite installed, will see how they work. The minimap is definitely
better and so is the directional arrow/distance than my previous guide.

Level 40 and equipped with mail armor today.

A couple of questions about dungeons:

1. After getting killed and finding my way back to the instance,
sometimes the bad guys have respawned and I can't make my
way back to the rest of the team. Hunters don't do well alone
in instances, it turns out. Is there any way I can bypass the
bad guys other than by being resurrected, which is often not
an option.

2. If I have to leave an instance before the run is completed
for some reason, how do I do so? I can teleport out, but I am
still in the dungeon party. Is there any way to leave the
dungeon and the party?

#2 you can right click your Portrait in the upper left and select "Leave Party" This will drop you and port you out.

#1 the healer should rez you. if the healer is dead and no one else can rez, then everyone should come back and clear because no heals = no dungeon. If no one will rez you and there are respawns, then your group are asswipes and you'll probably need to drop group.

wow, ok we need to talk. If you need gold for this, I'll cover it for you, but I want you to go to the Auction house and get
Major:
Glyph of Mending
Glyph of Bestial Wrath
Minor:
Glyph of Mend Pet

once you have them right click them and the slots will show themselves

then
Respec at your trainer and pick these

You should nowdo more damage and survive longer.

OK I bought and applied the glyphs. I could not learn any new talents,
I think because I already spent all my available points.
Do you think I should unlearn and then start again, or just proceed
with what I have?

start over. your trainer has an unlearn option. The idea is that you want to get down in the tree as fast as you can to a point. You went wide instead of deep and it's going to affect what you can do. I sent you some gold to help. Don't worry, I got a shitload.

I did the unlearn and relearn as shown on the link. Ghostkitty is definitely
more dangerous now. I tried out the armor, talents and glyphs in
Uldaman. Although we all got killed, at least I was the last one to fall :)
