Except, unpaid....

Everybody furloughed for 5 days, spread over the rest of the year. One day is during turkey huntig season, so that's good!

Salary cuts too,at least I'm still employed.

Can't you feel our souls ignite
Shedding ever changing colours,
in the darkness of the fading night,
Like the river joins the ocean,
as the germ in a seed grows
We have finally been freed to get back home.

I'm with ya...
Being 1 of 2 IT guys for a global operation, they've cut any overtime since a couple of months ago so anything I do requires full details of everything that had to be done during the overtime.
Now, starting last week; for exempt employees, they've cut 10% of our pay without cutting the hours. Fortunately I managed to stay hourly this entire time, so they've decided to tell me to take one day off every two weeks or one hour off every day.

However, I fought that and made it pretty apparent that I'm beyond struggling to get much of anything done as it is, so they've let me continue to work my full hours as an exception. However, because I am working all of my hours, I now need to log everything I do to show "progress" as they put it.

I still don't quite understand how they can make me work less, yet put more pressure on me to do more.

But, like you said. At least I'm still employed.

I'm 1 of 13 IT guys... It's just me in the Networking position. Our department survived yet another year of cuts. 26 years of IT and no losses yet. The positions that we have open will stay that way however. We've always been short staffed. I suppose that's the thing that's kept us safe. We've also turned over a significant portion of our budget back to the district. And we have reduced costs and cut service contracts where it makes sense.

We all got a 5 day unpaid vacation over Christmas. Bonuses cancelled
for the first half of the year. 2 out of 12 on my team layed off so far.
1 VP head has rolled. Expect there will be more bad news around
the next 1 or 2 quarters. Otherwise, things are going great! :)

Sorry guys, me as a Canadian, and the Canadian company I am involved with, are doing well. We have cut some staff, but as we are in the construction business, that is normal (for the most part) during the winter. We are already concerned that we will not be able to get enough staff for this summers push. Last year we had over 160 field employees, but that was nuts in the office. We are trying to keep it down to less that that this year.
A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week. A pint of sweat, saves a gallon of blood. No poor bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other bastards die for their country.
