I hated Windows XP when it came out. I was a Windows 2000 fan for the performance. XP eventually got me to switch since I could strip off all the dumb things that Microsoft did to the interface and basically make XP run as well as 2000 did. The one thing that I liked about XP was it's fast booting skills.

Having said all that, I've tried Vista, and hated it. I'm back on XP again - and waiting for Creative to write some drivers for X-Fi under Linux.

Ditto Neo. I bought a Dell laptop with Vista about 3 months ago for
one of the kids. It crashed daily, until I got a copy of XP from
Best Buy and installed it. That stopped the crashes.

I don't mind it so much... yeah it has it's annoyances but for me it seems to do the job just fine.
Besides, you know that eventually you'll end up buying it anyway...
