AW - Your opinion of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on older hardware...

Post by Neophyte »

AW, You bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R. yes? They have it for sale on Steam for $29. Looks like a bargain knowing that it's an excellent FPS/RPG. How well do you think that it will run on a 2.8 Ghz / GeForce 6800 GT 256 / 1 GB RAM?

I see that they are recommending a Core 2 Duo E6400 with a GeForce 7900. That seems to be quite a leap from my specs.

Should I wait until I upgrade before immersing in that game?

I bought that game, played it for 2 days, and uninstalled it. I didn't find it fun at all.

Not sure about older hardware, it is quite demanding on the hardware.

Wow Neo, your specs are almost exact as mine. :D I have 2Gb of RAM though. Proc is AMD.

I've not seen that game. I do know that Quake Wars, Quake 4, Doom 3, all run very smooth on my machine even with settings cranked up. I thought the games I've mentioned are hogs. Not sure how they compare to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. then.

It's demanding on your hardware. it's also slow to start. there's a lot of running here to there and dying but the ai is excellent.
