It is a bitch when mother nature turns around and slaps you one just to remind you how powerful she is from time to time eh?
I live in Terrace, BC and unfortunately with our snow pack levels at over 175% more than normal they new it was coming some time this spring/summer. Well it started coming on Monday after a weekend with temperatures over 25 degrees. Some of that snow has melted and has found its way into the Skeena River. On June 2nd the river was 8m high and today on June 6th the river is currently over 13m high. Evacuation orders have been given to many homes along the river. We don't have water on our property yet, but there is a slough that is fed from runoff from the river (which as you can imagine there is a ton of right now) that runs at the edge of our back property and is threatening to spill the banks any time now.
Our city has declared a state of emergency because of the flooding. It has forced us to close all the highways that go north, east and west. We were already limited in our ability to travel to our east because of a massive mudslide that closed off the highway over a week ago. To this day it is still closed and because of the flooding which is happening to the east (further away from Terrace) they arent trying to clear the debris. If i knew how to upload some pics of things here I would if someone wants to tell me how. In some of these pictures I have drawn arrows to show where things are normally.

Normally I'm fascinated by the strength of mother nature, but in this case, I'm scared shitless because of what is inevitably going to happen.

You are both in the same area right?
Get them and keep them safe.... I wish there was more that I could do...
*** Neo, ya, in order to see the pics you have to register. There are many pictures of a street called Skeena street which is obviously on the skeena river and my street is haugland which runs perpendicular but intersects the lower (flooded) side and the higher side of skeena street.
