So I received most of the parts for the new machine and sat down starting to piece them all together. A couple things that I'm dissapointed with at first thought. Foremost is the RAID idea.

I bought 2 320gb drives thinking that I was gonna go either with a RAID1 or a RAID0, but for the life of me, I can't get the raid going. My motherboard has 4 serial raid options that come with it, but I have tried to fiddle a bit with them, but no luck. There is an Asus EZ Backup, Intel ICH7R Southbridge RAID, a Cross-RAID and aJMicron RAID. I tried the Asus EZ Backup RAID option, but each time I tried it, it would say that no hdds were detected. On the mb there are some EZ Backup serial slots (1,2) to plug the drives into, but no workie. I'm thinking that I may have to flash my bios? I dunno. If I hook up the drives into the standard sata ports on the mb they are detected. I went ahead and installed the OS onto the drive thinking that if I wish, I may try and hook up the RAID option at a later date. Another thing that I am disappointed with is that the cables for my PS were supposed to be LED (or so I thought). But apparently I am mistaken or not enabling something. Again, not a big deal.
I have to download all the programs and such. I am still waiting on a couple 120 mm fans (LED to take advantage of the clear sided case) to ensure cooling. The monitor was on backorder also, so until it arrives, I'm still using an older CRT.
So all in all, even though it is still in the early stages of the new era for me, I'm somewhat satisfied although the raid thing is bothering me. What the hell would I need 640 GB of disc space for? I should have just bought one of the drives if I knew I was gonna have troubles with the raid thing.
