People exploit the awp because it takes long to reload, so they'd fire, and switch weapons back n forth to get it loaded faster. I don't know if it still works, but it definately was an exploit on something that they didn't intend to happen.Serpent wrote:How can it be considered a game exploit when it was made into the game by the makers themselves?Wooden Dog wrote:Awp gun-switching is, designated by Steam and Valve and TWL/CAL/OGL, a game exploit, therefore a cheat, and illegal in gameplay.

Oh it still works, but they can't help that people have been doing that since the oldschool CS version (1.6 and back). For a lot of those people it's almost like instinct, so banning it just seems unfair and wrong.... I mean, now they want to restrict people from using their mouse wheel excessively? or their keyboard? That just seems dumb...
I would think that making it more like "REAL" life would make it more of a challenge. It is no wonder that some of us newbee's to these games get blown away and discouraged.D.A.R.K.[CotC] wrote:Oh it still works, but they can't help that people have been doing that since the oldschool CS version (1.6 and back). A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week. A pint of sweat, saves a gallon of blood. No poor bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other bastards die for their country.

Definetly.
The first time i had an encounter with an AWP was one i will never forget.
I was just begining to play, and had just bought my first gun at the begining of a round. The map was cs_office and i left the front of the garage.
That's when the encounter happened. Like a thunder blitz of d00m from the god of freaking thund3r himself, an AWP round peirced the wall to my left (your right). I turned quickly to see a single person across the square with the weapon of my d00m.
Then, with a speed that rivaled the greased lightening of Zeus, he fired 3 AWP rounds into me within less than 2 seconds. (time slightly exagerated for dramatic effect)
That was the scariest use of the fast reload i have ever seen.
That's why i hate AWPs.
I still have nightmares....

long time no see
I happened to skim this post and noticed one key element missing.
In 1.5 and 1.6 the term "quick-switching" was a label for ppl using scripts to switch their weapons like the following...
(rifle1_action1; hud_switch weapon1, action1;) the result being: a player could fire their sniper rifle, skip the animation of setup (using weapon switch to same weapon) and fire again all in the amount of time it would take for a deagle to shoot 2 rounds.
fast_switch is completely legal as it requests a completely different weapon slot, before returning your primary. This is a skill, those that have mastered it often are confused for "quick-switching" hacks, as the terms are so closely related and commonly misunderstood. You can spot a skilled player if the gun goes away, a pistol is shown, used, and then the rifle returns. All of which is completely legal in CS league play.
Well its been a blast, good to post and knock a few cobwebs off - now back to the labs.
