So the RE games and Killer 7 are for kids now????

*Killer 7, for anyone that doesn't know, is this really really weird game with characters that swear with repeated F words almost every 5 seconds (seriously)

Sounds dumb to me, they should have left things alone but Nintendo does have a habit of messing up good things. They like to make it hard for loyal Nintendo fans to stay loyal.

Dad: "WTF?! No, you nasty little.... Wait a second, isn't that the Nintendo Revolution that I bought you last month? I have to hook it up to the TV still!"

It's sad that some of you think that Nintendo is for kids.

Most gamers nowadays played the nintendo games as kids (maybe that's why they think its for kids) and still play them today. I, personally, play nintendo games and think they are awsome.

I mean, come on. What about games like Killer 7, Super Smash bros. Melee, Zelda: the wind waker (ok, that one looks like it could be for kids, but the game is "olde school"), all three Prince of Persia games, Metroid prime, and many more. Those are puzzle games, they make you think. I'm pretty sure no "kid" (term used loosly) could beat Metroid Prime 2:Echoes like Dark did. Dark finnishes games like that (including Kingdom Hearts 2) in about 3 freakin' days!

It's more than something thats "for kids" it's something that a majority of games grew up with and now share with their children. It's about passing on the gaming experience and sharing it with others.

Sure Nintendo doesnt own any of the "violent shoot'em up" gaming franchises, but Nintendo has always been about games that make you think and are more than the cookie cutter FPS games that have been cranked out recently.

Those of you that have kids and are thinking about games for them, consider the Nintendo consol. Not only will it have "kiddie games" for them, but also games that you could be interested in too.

I hope no one wiis on the carpet when they realize how cool the new Nintendo consol is going to be.

Ender, I have no doubt that the console will be cool. But the name... come on!! Wii? (Pronounced we, like 'we' play Nintendo...) 'tis a silly name! Anyone close to 2 digits in age knows that word as something with an enuendo attached.

I remember when the iPod came out and I thought that it was an awful name for a portable MP3 player. It should have been something like iMusic, iPlayer, iMP3... "iPod" sounded more like a vegetable with the "i" in front of it than a music player. I think that the Wii is something like that. The name will either catch on and stand for something cool and different or it will suck royally and fizzle into oblivion. With it sounding like slang for male genitalia, I hope it gets sucked! mwahahaha!

But I think what ever it is, Wii or Revolution, it's a good console with good games. It is especially interesting with it's retro NES, SNES, Sega, and TurboGrafx libraries.

Heh.

Yeah, console games are more for kids, I think.

I also think that the idea that console games are for kids is skewed a little in a gaming clan that relies 100% on PC-type computers and a fast internet connection. Maybe in the general population, the answers would be different.

I never felt any need to buy any of those console machines because I had the most powerful gaming machine you could buy sitting on a desk. It comes with its own TV, and can do other stuff when you're not playing games.

I don't think it matters what name is on it. The folks who want it will buy it regardless of the name it has. "Nintendo's Big Pile of Steaming Cow Manure!" would sell just fine if it played the newest games.

I'm not so sure anyone read the article I linked to...

Nintendo's response to renaming it thus:

"Revolution was a name we gave it to describe the direction we were heading. The question that needed answering was, 'Who's gonna revolutionize the industry?' Our answer was, 'We are.' We are starting the revlolution, so we now call it the Wii."

And yeah... you guys NEED to look into games like Killer 7 more... I mean, being able to play as a character that yells out "F--- you!" every time you fire your gun off is pretty intense... and rather vulger for kids, and even young adults. And that's a NINTENDO GAMECUBE EXCLUSIVE GAME!!! You'd think a game THAT VIOLENT AND PROFANE would go to the XBox or something.

And Ender... when you talk about my times... put a range in there of about 1-4 days, depending on the length of the game (I have actually beaten games in a matter of a few hours as well).

Here's a breakdown of what you can find on a gamecube:

20+ FPS's
38+ Action/Adventure
9+ Tactical FPS's
24+ other Shooters
24+ RPG's
8+ Strategy games
42+ Racing Games
2+ Combat Racing Games
94+ Sports games
35+ Platformers
9+ Puzzles Games
15+ Party Games

1 EC (Early Childhood) games
306 E (Everyone) games
26 E 10+ games
211 T 12+ games
46 M games

And wow... look at the (shortened) PC list (HUGE):

192 EC games
3725 E games
41 E 10+ games
1495 T 12+ games
583 M games
18 AO (Adult Only) games

And PS2:

1 EC game
568 E games
53 E 10+ games
547 T games
232 M games
1 AO game (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas?????)

And now Xbox/Xbox 360

363 E games
38 E 10+ games
388 T 12+ games
198 M games
1 AO game

So the question is: "Is there a definite pattern that one system is aimed toward a specific age group?"

I did it again... rambled on with too much info
