It is so ironic that Tom Delay was the one who caused
the Texas voting districts to be redrawn, in order to
provide easy wins for Republicans, including himself.
Fair enough, to the victor go the spoils. But now, in a
district so conservative that today a local politician said,
"My Republican dog could win this district", Tom Delay
won't run because he can't win.
Delay will do OK since if he quits now Texas law will make
him a millionaire by giving him full control over his campaign
fund. But he will probably need all that money to pay his
lawyers and try to stay out of jail.
Sorry for boring you all with this post, but you gotta love the irony

Liberals in Texas don't ever get much to gloat about, so allow meRico wrote:Trollish, sort of.

a troll this one time. In the big scheme of things, nothing has
changed. The Democrats are still in a secular decline and
I think we will be seeing a Republican congress and administration
for years to come. Probably all for the best, considering that the
best the Democrats can come up with are characters like Hillary
Clinton and Howard I-have-a-scream Dean.
OK, I'll give you a pass - but only since you are not an egregious offender.Dataspel wrote:Liberals in Texas don't ever get much to gloat about, so allow meRico wrote:Trollish, sort of.

I dunno about full GOP Congress - I think the Senate may change hands this year, and maybe the House 2 years from now. Tough call, there.
Hillary? You've got to be kidding. DeLay could beat her for Prez. Dean? I dunno - he's a lightweight. AlGore has a better shot, IMO.
McCain is the next POTUS. And, if he picks his running mate well, that guy might be POTUS for 8 years.
Seriously - If Kerry or Gore run again, it'll be close. If Hillary runs, look at a landslide of epic proportions.
Tool - the trial hasn't been yet. Later this year.

Yeah, everybody is looking at the wrong end of the supply-demand equation.BD wrote:I've never relly cared... until this whole amnesty crap. Now I hate 90% of both parties including the executive branch and my family is the only thing keeping me from going outside with my rifle.
If business owners had to spend a year in the slammer (real jail, not Club Fed) for every illegal on their payroll, it would only take a couple of folks going to the Big House before demand dried up. With no demand, there's no jobs. With no jobs, there's no reason to come. No border wall, no Army troops on the border, no amnesty, no 200,000 busses...
Focusing on the demand side is political suicide, for both parties. Vote for the guys who talk about the demand side if you want change.
wHAT PISSES ME OFF IS THAT i HEARD (oops) there were 0 fines levied against any employers for use of ILLEGAL aliens last year.
This may be a mute point where other people live but here in So Cal it's horrendous. I'm terrified of my kids having someting that requires me to take them to an emergency room. I have to pay a fortune on Insurance (non-auto) to subsidize them and I have to paya fortune on insurance (auto) in case one of them hits me.
If they spent half the energy they used to demonstrate here over the last few weeks and focused it on their corrupt government (Mexico) that country would probably be worth staying in.
It also pisses me off that they are so essential... they are less than 5% of ANY work force they are in and if they were so essential to the economy, why doesn't Mexico want them back and why isn't mexico an economic powerhouse?
ARRRRRRGHHHH!!! Where's my shotgun.

Anyone who works a crappy, low-wage job and has no health insurance? You subsidize *them*, too. Actually, not only them, but the company that saves money by not offering health insurance. Ain't just the hispanics, amigo.
They have it pretty good here, and they know it. And they'd never get a fair shake in any country in Central America. But it's easier to come here, especially with so many employers willing to break the law and hire them.
The fat cats are the ones calling the shots. Status quo, no matter how hard folks push. When they drop all the "ship them back" or "amnesty" crappola and go to making hiring an illegal a mandatory jail term felony, the illegals will be breaking their @$$3z to get back to wherever they came from - cuz they'll need to eat.
Edit: Quoting broken? The tags are right, right?
Got less of a problem subsidizing the legal-low wage than the illegals.Rico wrote:Anyone who works a crappy, low-wage job and has no health insurance? You subsidize *them*, too.
