Re: Next Gen Console Systems
I have to report I have older systems, many up to an including a fully functioning SEGA, Playstation 2, and X-Box.Neophyte wrote:Which one are you most excited about?
My issue is not with available titles, it is with the whole console gaming system. One issue, beyond camera angles and controller distresses, is not being able to manage my game and being forced to utilize "save points".
This is more a software than hardware rant per se, but it affects my plans on purchasing another generation of console. Some games we just have to buy for console only, but I constantly forget how much I prefer the flexibility and management of a computer game in comparison.

The Revolution is what it is: A revolution in the future of gaming. I mean, not only is the controller separated into two parts, one for each hand, but you control the movement in the game by the movement of your hand!! It's supposed to revolutionize the way people play FPS on consoles, b/c now instead of flicking a little joystick to turn, you simply move your wrist and it follows your hand movements. IT IS THE R0X0rS!!

my son has COD2 on his 360, loves it, and great to have it on 27"s but I find the controls very different, w/b just a matter of time though I guess.Baron[CotC] wrote:I've been an extremely happy owner of a 360 for a few months now.
And now I have Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion on it -- so theres no reason to play any other game.
A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week. A pint of sweat, saves a gallon of blood. No poor bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other bastards die for their country.

A reduction in buttons is a blessing. Simplifying the experience is by far better than telling a noob to use the left stick for moving and the right stick for looking, down is up and up is down, etc... Making the controller aim like a lase pointer and clicking a button to shoot is brilliant. And the nunchaku style analog accessory controller is cool.D.A.R.K.[CotC] wrote:The Revolution is what it is: A revolution in the future of gaming. I voted for the Revolution. But not because I didn't appreciate the power of the Xbox 360 or the potential in High Def movies with the PS3 Blu-ray drive, but because of Satoru Iwata's promise to bring in virtual consoles to the Revolution and with it the games from NES, SNES, Game Cube, Sega, and TurboGrafx. Those are the game systems I grew up on and loved! Iwata got it right, a console is more about the titles than the system itself. And I think the Nintendo Revolution will be just that.

Just a notice about the 360: Microsoft screwed up. Not only did they make faulty 360's that either wouldn't work or blew up, but the games they MODDED for the 360 come out as a piece of crap compared to their originals that they were modded from. Call of Duty for it isn't even the same game, and Quake 4 is absolutely HORRENDOUS compared to the PC version. The frame rate was TERRIBLE, and the controllers aren't any better, or even different, either. They're even still wired, which is something Sony and Nintendo have gotten rid of for good. Of the few games that are actually good for it (Really good ones), the others aren't so great. Microsoft could've done a better job on it if they weren't so pressed and focused on "Coming out with it before the others, so we can get a headstart." This made them sacrifice a lot that they could've put into it. By the time the Revolution and the PS3 come out, they will be far ahead of the 360 b/c they took their time on making a next-gen console that people will actually remember for a while. That's what made the original XBox successful: It was the last console to come out (before the 360). It was fresh, new, and offered some new games and some new gamestyles that the other two had to quickly adapt to if they wanted to compete with Microsoft. The fact that they came out with their new one so quickly shows how they didn't spend much time making it. The other two have been working on their new consoles at least a year and a half before Microsoft thought about theirs. This is what I like about the 360: Dead or Alive 4, Kameo, and Elder Scrolls... that's pretty much it. Microsoft doesn't even do a good enough job on the console to actually make money off of it. Something is wrong when you produce a money pit on purpose.
PS3: Where did you hear this rediculous $800 price??? Go check your sources, wow...
Also, they're contollers are all wireless, and the system is built to use up to 7 players/controllers at one time!
To make things better, they're moving away from DVD's to make their games: They're using Blu-Ray!!!

Revolution: Yeah, it's retroactive to their old games, what's better than that? Both sides of the controller have triggers on the bottom, but one thing that scares me about the controller is that there's a power button for the Revolution on the controller, like a remote control... I can forsee some accidental turning offs of the console happening. Other than that, Nintendo has kept ALL information about the Revolution under wraps, which is actually a very smart move. Now they can see what they're rivals are doing and can do whatever they want and nobody will know until they actually release their console. Nothing is known, besides a photo of what it looks like, and the controller they made for it.
