Neo, you sure email went to my hotmail address? Nothing there. How about to akira@campquake.net to be safe.

...just a thought.
I asked about the business account. It offered similar upload/download rates. But they guaranteed them instead of saying "up to..." and there was no limits on upload/download usage also all port restrictions (21, 25, 80, etc...) were lifted. It sounded like a good deal. The problem was that we're saving money by having the "residential package" so if I took the broadband out of that equation we would have to pay full price on everything else. Which was going to be an additional $65 per month.

If you're thinking that you want to host it, I can get the file smoved elsewhere and give you a link... It would be good for us west coast dudes! But then, you'r emoving to Texas soon aren't you?

Meh... I dunno... It was sent from my Yahoo account. Bitter rivals I guess?! I'm sending any more info to your CQ account then.

ya it would be awesome. hehe ;)

...and ya, but not til ... a few more months at least.. it'll take time to have my house built (they haven't started it yet).. plus - my wifes' current doc won't even consider a VBAC due to insurance reasons so needless to say, we have a c-section scheduled for our 3rd born on May 23rd... so we will probably be here for that. :)

Done. It is up and running. I can't test it myself, so need any of you who play it to test.

Just connected to server.campquake.net for Sven Co-op. It should accept. I set same parameters that you had Neo, but could go higher than 8 max. players if you wish.

It doesn't show up in the server list. And times out if I try to connect to the address. I can see a counter-strike responding to the address, so I'm assuming that there isn't any firewall issues.

The same parameters should be fine. I wouldn't bump the player count any higher because the maps usually telefrag more than 6 players on level change any way.

Hmm, ok. Been awhile since running a HL1 dedicated. I have parameters passed to hlds.exe as:

-game svencoop +maxplayers 8 -console

Using Firedaemon to handle the running of it. Comparing to other HL parameters, -console preceeds the others, so I've adjusted as such.

Restarted it with this now. Otherwise, not sure what it might be? There shouldn't be conflict between HL2 servers running.

Good thing being, is that it is on there, and I can fiddle with it to get it working. Probably issue between using Firedaemon, and the parameters. (but parameters are same useage as CS:S)

That was my server's parameters. So, yeah, you got those right! Good memory.

But I didn't try to run it through Firedaemon. I loaded it to the desktop in the console window. At the time, it was an experiment, but then it got popular and I never bothered to figure out how to run it as a FD service. My SCTF server runs fine as a Firedaemon service, where I couldn't see the console. But HLDS was always a little tempermental about that stuff.

Well, two ways of doing it. Passing the -console in parameter, or telling Firedaemon to run it as console. It should technically be up and running currently. Parameters do look just fine, and no errors showing in event logs.

One thing I saw, was in server.cfg file, indicating to choose if East or West coast server (warning it won't show in browser if not done). But shouldn't matter if it was set to West?

Other option, if I can remember how to tell it to do so, is get it to start logs. It might indicate any sort of failure of the hlds.exe

Akira, it had a port conflict with the CS server. (Both trying to use 27015) Night Reaver showed me how to TS to the server and I set the port to the next available (27018) and it's running just fine now.

Ack! Something so simple of course. I didn't think there would have been same ports used, go figure.

Thanks to both of you for figuring that one out. :)

The geographical location setting only effects where it shows in the game browsers.
People can sort their list by that...

Me just guessing what was causing it to not work. :)

As for ports, it would still show in browser now, but if you went into console to connect, you'd have to specify the port, as it is not default right?
