Can't you feel our souls ignite
Shedding ever changing colours,
in the darkness of the fading night,
Like the river joins the ocean,
as the germ in a seed grows
We have finally been freed to get back home.

Shedding ever changing colours,

Re: Critiique this system
Better than the one I just had built, mine ended up to be about $1200. You should be able to play games about the same as me (not counting the skillz factor, of course.)warf wrote:SYSTEM COMPONENTS

Well I pulled the trigger on it.
Substituted the ATI RADEON 850 XT Platimun Edition video card and faster ram.
Should be a screamer. Comes in around July 7th.
So, what first? COD, CS:S, Doom....
How do I get my steam crap for regualr CS and half life moved?

I do not think you are able to play CS without Steam. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall reading something about that...
BF2. CoD is fun, but BF2 rocks all over the place.
That reminds me: (thread hijack) I tried connecting to a ranked server last night. I was kicked for too many team kills. I have killed ONE of my teammates, ever, and that's because he was an idiot and jumped right in front of the TOW launcher as I was defending an outpost. Dumb@$$ killed me too (blast radius, you know.) Does this mean I cannot gain rank, for one stupid teamkill?
(Oh, and after that, I got totally bummed, went to a server, and proceeded to get a great set of FIVE team kills on a bunch of jerks who ran up to an enemy chopper that I had stuck C4 to. The flag was about to be capped, and I neded to clear the guy out. So, I told them to clear out, and they just stood there. So I blew the chopper, the morons who couldn't get away, and re-capped our base. They voted to kick me off the server. I shoulda just walked off and let the enemy cap the flag.)
Hard to get those guys retail for under $600. Shipping's free, too.krazydave wrote:Nice system...
Seems a little high on the price to me, but not too bad when considered you have a 20" LCD in there also.
I think it's a pretty good deal, when you factor in the LCD. My 19" tube monitor was less than $200, so I'm not complaining. Oh, and I picked up another 19" for $25, so now I can have a mini-LAN at my house.

I think you need it all. You can't miss games of Doom3, and Call of Duty is always fun for WW2 fighting. Battlefield 2 is also a must if you like any of the Battlefield series. But having HL2 would probably be one of the best choices as there is CS:S, deathmatch, first person solo play, and coming soon Day of Defeat Source, which I suspect will tax many CoD fans.
I can't wait to become a Kar whore again!Aide-de-Camp wrote:and coming soon Day of Defeat Source, which I suspect will tax many CoD fans.
I'm still trying to figure out how much I like BF2 at the moment, I havent been able to play it online yet though because it hangs eternally trying to create my online account...

I had this same problem until I toyed with variations of my name. It seemed as if variations of my name, and or e-mail address had been taken.krazydave wrote:I havent been able to play it online yet though because it hangs eternally trying to create my online account...
I'm just paranoid, as nobody would do that.
Try altering your name some, like KD[CotC], as the code allows for a "unique variation thereof." I went with the standard A-d-C[CotC], it hadn't been taken...rather it worked.

I had to go with a completely different name to play .... so if you see Templar[CotC] that would be me (but that is for the demo)Aide-de-Camp wrote:I had this same problem until I toyed with variations of my name. I'm assuming that you use the same accounts for the full version.
I was able to get online last night with the demo for a couple of hours.
The helos definately seem easier to fly, but I still feel like a sitting duck in one, and actually hitting any targets with it definately is going to take some practice.
Jets I have no problem with and can usually handle my own pretty well, but it definately doesn't help your score much to fly jets all the time since you can't capture any control points in one.
and the heat seeking missles are pretty fun also.
I think the good thing about the demo is you get alot of noobs to blow up!
