lol, geez, I never heard of that one... from the message board it appears as a quite convoluted story... I ll be out of town for 2 weeks but when back I'll try to rent it, I assume it's worthwhile to see ??

Actually, it is interesting, just hard to follow.
You need to see it a couple of times to really get it.

I thought the movie was good, just don't go in expecting a Spielberg
blockbuster. It is an Indie film, made on a very small budget. What
I found interesting was that it takes a science fiction premise (time
travel), and considers the events that result in rich detail.

Now, obviously time travel is not possible, and there is no
connection between time travel and room temperature superconductors,
as stated in the movie. But there are still interesting questions to
consider. For example, regarding the the exact type of time travel the
writer has envisaged. Does it actually correspond to any understanding
of time as described in physics? That is one area where I would like to
ask your opinion.

Going back in time violates the precepts of the Theory of Relativity. Stopping time (and thus holding time still for yourself while the universe moves on, effectively "going forward") would require one to move at the speed of light. Even a very small mass would require an enormous amount of energy to move at near-light speed. To exceed the speed of light (and thus go back in time,) would require more energy than exists in the universe, if the Theory is true.

Now, if you were able to move at half the speed of light, you would perceive time as being half as fast as everyone moving at normal speed.

There is a way to generate the amount of power required to do so - in a black hole. I have read about ways to generate an artificial black hole, that may help in obtaining this sort of power.

Actually, though, I'd rather do as is done in the tv show Sliders, than time travel... (They travel to different dimensions within this universe... same planet, different dimension...)

Well the writer of this movie started with a known, if exotic
phenomenon: gravity may be degraded in the field of a

The SF leap is made when he presumes that, if this machine is effective at
blocking gravity, well maybe it can block time as well. So the objects in
the machine become untethered from time, and can drift back and
forth between time A when the machine was started, and time B when the
machine was shut down. It's not unrestricted time travel, but still, very
clever...

So I watched the entire movie and now my hands hurt, I can't seem to write properly, at least I see the words in my head, but for some reason I can't put them to paper.

I am confused.

One character was eliminating his doubles, so does it postulate that multiple doubles were created, as in travel backwards before the spawn event, with no convergence of time in the future, after the spawn event, no syncopation per se.

And how did the older gentlemen become involved.

What was with the girlfriend and the shotgun.

I loved it.

Recently it has become easier for me to type thant to write, also.

Aaron created a permanent double by going back in time and then
preventing himself from going back in time. There is danger
of recursion between the A and B times, which is why it is safer
to knock the orginal out. After the B time, contact may safely be made,
as in the phone call Aaron made to himself (Aaron's double was the
narrator's voice).

The older gent is Granger, a VC and Rachel's dad. The information on
how he managed to make the trip was deliberately left unknown
by the writer. It is only meant to demonstrate the impossibility of
untangling future events. What is known is that Granger is unconcious
due to a recursion attack. The act of Abe seeing and thinking about
him causes Granger goes into a coma.

Abe's girlfriend is Rachel. Aaron is a little obsessed with acting like
a hero, and reverse engineers a safe way to do that, by crafting
a moment where he can overpower her ex-boyfriend who brought
the shotgun to a party. Later Aaron will build on this obsession to
start the creation a machine the size of an airplane hanger.

Ok, that's more clear now.

This is the first time travel movie where the foundation was based loosely on actual technical terms, as far as the writing, opposed to some sort of mystical kem-o-flagie device or flux-capacitor. While there's a device, and we're not sure what it's originally for, the story pulls you in to their psychotic episode as they lose themselves. Consider the opportunities wasted, and they clearly had originally good ideas about turning a profit, setting some rights, but from there it get's totally lost.

I'd recommend this too. Thanks, it was a good movie.
