XII. Rights and Responsibilities
A. As a member of the Clan of the Camper you have certain Rights and Responsibilities.
1. The Senate.
a. You have the responsibility to show respect towards fellow senators at all times.
b. You have the responsibility to avoid flaming, stoking the fire, baiting, trolling or any other method of essentially looking for a fight.
c. You have the responsibility to keep your fellow senators in check by reminding them that they should not violate paragraph (b) above.
d. You have the responsibility to remember that words are open to interpretation and what one might mean in a post might be misunderstood in reading. Don't always assume that a post is a flame.
e. You have the right to start a topic on any subject you see fit, without violating this constitution or the EULA you agreed to when you opened your account.
f. You have the responsibility to 'take it to email' when you feel the thread is getting too hot, or when advised to by a member of the Electorate. (NOTE: Should a majority of the Electorate feel your thread should remain in the Senate, this paragraph will not apply unless it violates another paragraph in this section).
g. The elected Senate Proconsul is the final word on matters of the Senate message board. Should you feel your rights have been ignored, you may appeal any decision to the Veteran Council who will hear all arguments and vote. A three to one majority will be needed to overturn a decision by the Senate Proconsul.
h. Some members know other members more intimately than by a handle alone. Therefore, no member shall address any other member by their real name if the message is anything less than friendly, nor shall any member ever divulge any personal information about another member. Any member who is at the receiving end of a "real name post" may request the poster to edit the message removing their personal details. (Note: Asking a member how their family is and other pleasantries are accepted, so long as real names are not used.)
2. Email.
a. Sections a, b and d posted above apply here.
b. You have the right to email any member of leadership at any time about any subject you wish to discuss. That person has the responsibility to respond to you in a timely fashion.
3. In Game.
a. You have the responsibility to hold yourself to the highest standards of Clan of the Camper. All statutes of The Universal Code Of Members Conduct apply.
b. Private matters stay private.
B. Crime and Punishment
1. Violations
a. Innocent - Any violations of this constitution that appear to be an honest mistake will first be dealt with a warning. Repeated violations will be subject to the decisions of the Veteran Council and can include punishment up to disavowal. An appeal is permitted, requiring a three to one majority of the full leadership (the Electorate, Legion leaders and Caesar).
b. Willful - Any violations of this constitution that appear to be deliberate and willful in nature will dealt with swiftly and harshly and may include punishment up to disavowal.
c. Ignorance - Ignorance of this body of laws will never be tolerated as a defense of any actions.
2. Process
a. The Veteran Council will oversee all 'matters' of judgment that escalate beyond or are larger than the Legion level.
b. Should a Veteran be directly involved in the 'matter' he will remove himself from the judgment and be replaced by the most senior member of the Clan who is not serving in a leadership position.
c. The Veteran Council will hear both sides of any argument and decide the outcome. Should the decision be disavowal, the full leadership will be the voting body, requiring a four to one majority to disavow.
3. The appeal
a. Any member may appeal any disciplinary action that has been decided against them.
b. The member will tell their first line leader who will gather all of the information and arguments and post them on the senate.
c. The full Clan will vote Yes or No to grant the appeal (a Yes vote means you agree to the appeal, a no vote means you agree with the punishment)
d. A ninety percent majority is required to carry the appeal and overturn the punishment.
e. Upon appeal, the punishment shall be reduced by one level (see section 4 below).
4. Punishment (From strongest to mildest)
