Ever order a machine from the US and have customs issues or is it pretty straight forward? This one is going to BC.

Ive only ever bought clothing from the US and had it shipped here.. paid $37 in customs/duty on a $80 order

you could try shipping it to you and then shipping it across yourself marked as a gift. If they believed you then all fees would be waived.
