Bud,
Zoddy completed his Eagle project last Saturday. Planted 45 trees in
Zola Park in Pflugerville. The little camper still has to complete
his last 2 merit badges (Personal Fitness and Personal Management)
and his board of review, but I am also way proud of him.
Good work Warf, on raising your son to Eagle. I think only dads
can really understand what this means.
Well Done, Sir.
Very Best Regards,
Data

Congrats to both of your sons. I have been involved in scouting for more than 10 years. Cub leader, Akela (cub master), scout leader, head scout leader and group commitee chairperson. I no longer am involved, but those were some of the best years of my life. Both my son and daughter were very involved in the programs thru their youth.
I believe it had a good outcome on both. My daughter has been in university for 4 years and has 2 more to go to obtain her zoology and environmental sciences degrees and masters. I totally believe scouting an d being in the outdoors has affected her life decisions.
My son loves the out doors, including camping and getting out in the wilderness with the boys, and odd girl
.
I feel comfortable with my children as they have learned not only how to survive in the wilderness (if they ever need to) but organization skills, values, and a sense of reality for our environment.
So Scouting Rocks! Some of our youth may not realize that in their youth, but we do and they will.

Zoddy affirms that he has learned volumes about
"Throwing random things into the fire to watch them burn"
and why "Getting your sleeping bag soaked in water during
winter camp is probably not a good idea". Hopefully this
will translate into some life skill...

Thanks guys. It's hard to believe, he's been in scouts since tiger age (1st grade). I know what Zoddy says about burning experiments, they cetainly are prevalent in our troop! Good luck on those last 2 merit badges, personal management took some time for Warf JR.
