I just got done beating Portal myself. And I couldn't help but noticed the tie-in between Half-Life 2: Episode 2 - the Borealis ship which Aperture had created. It seems that Aperture was competing with Black Mesa for DoD contracts. It also seems that Gordon is headed towards the Borealis in the next episode.
Now, in Portal, Chell from the Apeture Labs had made it to the surface. I was guessing that Chell was inside the Borealis. But with her on the surface, I wonder if she'll make it in to Half-Life 2: EP3?
WTF is with "cake?!"

Yeah. It was a pretty interesting tie-in. I think at least the portal gun should make it into the following HL episode. But who knows. I wasn't sure though if she actually survives. It looked pretty firey and bad on the surface. Also, it didn't look like a ship. It looked like the surface of some land mass.
Something I noticed is that when the computer says the word glad, it spells it "GLaD"
Is it supposed to mean something?

Finished as well. I liked the tie in's. Made it feel more like a game you know with familiarity, rather than something totally new.
The cake, hmm.... Seems like a pretty meager award for completing a death defying challenge. Right through the game I thought, maybe the reward was based on the saying, "You can't have your cake and eat it too."
Not sure if there is any hidden meanings in the use of a cake, other than it was more of just being purposely silly.

A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week. A pint of sweat, saves a gallon of blood. No poor bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other bastards die for their country.
