For those with in interest in such things, if you go outside and
look up into the Eastern sky, you may notice that the constellation
Perseus appears to have a new star. This is Comet Holmes,
which increased in brightness by about 1,000,000 times today,
no one knows why. Viewed by a small telescope under moderate
magnification, the halo is bright yellow, with a small core.
The comet circles the Sun every 7 years between the orbits of
Mars and Jupiter.
Here is where to find it in the sky, and a view of it's orbit:

For those without telescopes, here is a pic I took from my scope:

Tricky use of the word "star" there Data! :) I thought that you were going to bring us to witness something spectacular, such as the birth of a new sun. Instead, it's just a celestial chunk of ice, and whats worse, it's missing its tail!?
