F.E.A.R multiplayer, was downloaded free and they give you free key to use it!

And also Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, another free multiplayer download.

I have not re-installed HL2 and CS:S since I formatted my computer, I can't fit a 5-6Gb game due to drive space. Does anyone know if you can get IDE cables with more than just two hookups on it? I have a spare 30Gb drive that I'd add, but all IDE slots are taken.

Hoping to be gaming this Fri/Sat evening!

An option could be - due to budgetary concerns, of course - to get a promise card (ide raid)..so you can add several more drives... a few years back, at my company, we did this... had 10 ide drives raided together for our backup server... over a tb of space...was kinda cool, but that was till we changed to scsi for speed. lol

also - wolfet is awesome...i have been looking for ppl to play that with for ages. :)....like you said, its free... and its fun too.. :) fear multiplayer? is that anything like the single player game, as far as weapons, etc.. goes?

As far as I know, for FEAR, multiplayer has same feel to it (and weapons) compared to single player. I only ever played the single player demo though.

the wave of the future is SATA drives, my motherboard supports 6 of em. And the damn thing only has one IDE channel now, mostly just to support CDROM/DVD drives.

Also, to my knowledge its not possible to put more than two IDE drives on one channel. The cables are all done for master/slave and I've never heard of a third type.

My future involves SAS drives! :)

IDE is limited to 2 drives. Master and Slave.

Why not buy an external drive enclosure to adapt the 5th drive to USB?

I have an external 160GB WD enclosure off of my XPS laptop that I played from the whole time I was deployed. Worked flawlessly. Problem is you can probably pick up a big drive in an enclosure on sale for the same price as the enclosure.

Thanks guys. Well, my problem will fix itself once I have money to upgrade my computer entirely, then CPU, RAM, video, and HD space will no longer be an issue. :-)

What the hell are you talking about anyway?

External drive, gotcha. Installed an IDE HD years ago, must be some new deal now.

And what the hell is an enclosure, is that for yard tools?

That's a shed!

Enclosure... Fancy word for a little box that you put a hard drive in. You can call it a case, but Google sometimes serves up the PC Mid-Tower Case if you search for a "hard drive case"... Enclosure is the technical term that will give you better search results.

Looks like this with the lid removed:

You stick any drive you want in there. Connect the thing to a USB port. And you now have a removable place to store your pr0..errrrrrr.... Games!
