Hey all,

My Urgent Care company is coming along nicely, however we just had an absolutely horrid submission from one of the partner's friend of a friend who supposedly did "great website graphic design"

I'm not sure how I want to formally offer this due to the above experience... paying someone without seeing their final work bit us in the ass. So if anyone is interested in submitting several prototypes for our company's logo and/or if anyone is interested in designing/programming our website under the guidelines that I will pay you if we use your design/s. What the process will be is obtaining your submissions and showing them to my partners, if we like the design/s (or can work with you to tweak them to our liking) then I write you a check.

What I am looking for is a professional looking logo for Alliance Urgent Care (in color and black&white) that can be used in a variety of media formats, including business cards, marketing brochures, prescriptions, letterhead. etc. I'm thinking for the logo offering between $100-200 to the designer of the logo we use. I am intentionally leaving the style open as I don't want to restrict anyone's creativity. It just needs to be easily readable, professional looking, and use the name "Alliance Urgent Care."

The website is obviously more complex in terms of design (and re-imbursement to the designer), but what we are looking for is a professional looking, state of the art design that will have easy to navigate graphics/links that will demonstrate a professional, high quality site. Among the sections I'd like is a section that describes what types of diseases/injuries we will take care of as well as other services we offer. An embedded mapquest (or other company's) engine to give directions to either of our two clinics, insurances we accept, pre-registration paperwork the patient can fill out at home to speed up registering, etc, etc.

So for now in terms of the initial website design, I'm just looking for a graphic design for the home/main page shell-- and then adding all the above sections/information later after the style is formalized. Again, I am leaving the design style open so I don't limit creativity/ideas. The process will be the same for the initial submission, if we like the design (or can tweak it until we do) I write you a check. For the whole site design/programming we can negotiate a price later...

More importantly - are you BF2/voice comms-capable? There are some servers that need some CotC-style pwn4g3.

Crap, I wouldn't consider myself pro enough to design or develop, however (not sure if you want to go this far) I can recommend a good one or two web developers:

They are in Ontario, Canada, but I can vouch for their work. Just say Tim from NetAccess recommended them to you.

Both of those site developers are skilled, swervedesign being the more accomplished/complete of the two in multiple styles. A question you may want to ask as you search for a designer is, "do you have any complete CSS sites in your portfolio?" swervedesign has a good one, with clean code ( http://www.home.hlcmortgages.com ) in their work examples.

The only hurdle that a designer is faced with by going this route is complete browser compatibility. A good designer will easily overcome this hurdle, whereas a noob will stumble and make you look rediculous, like camping in the shadows with your flashlight on.

Also, remember when a designer touts complete flash design, they usually don't care about you, your business, or how anyone will ever find your site. Indexing a 100% flash site is impossible (with the exception of creating an identical xhtml/css version for backup).

And lastly, when you decide on a developer, try and know what you want, and what you can't stand, before you set a talented developer free to work. I've had many clients say "I trust you" "do what you think is best" "I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine" and it turn out PERFECT, but it wasn't what they really wanted.
