Friend left as deposit at gas station

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German woman left her friend as a deposit at a gas station because she did not have enough cash to pay for her petrol, police said Wednesday.

"She didn't have enough money to pay the bill, so her friend stayed behind as a human deposit while she went to withdraw cash," said a spokesman for police in the southern town of Muenchberg. "Unfortunately, the woman did not return."

Two hours after the 20-year-old driver left, the gas station called the police, who interrogated the stranded "deposit" before releasing her. Police are investigating the driver on suspicion of fraud.

A police spokesman on the scene said: "If her friend was better looking, the situation would have been different. We've seen situations like this all over the city. These so called friends drop off someone ugly at the gas station, and the clerks just don't want to have relations with someone like that. Most of the clerks agreed that if someone slutty, say Paris Hilton, was left behind then it would be prectly fine to take as much gas as you want!"

I've actually done this before... I was with one of my sisters at the time.. and she didn't have money for gas, and I didn't want to loan her any at the time, so I stayed there to assure the person working at the gas station, that she would be back.. and she went to get some money then came back and paid... granted - if she DID ditch me and not come back for hours... GRRRRRRRRR ... lets just not go there. heh

Mm, maybe. You could look at it this way though, Dark. If the three of us were in a car, neither Scion or I would be the deposit

I can shut the car off with a remote. I might just turn it off as you're in the middle of an intersection if you did something that malicious

It would leave me without a car, though... ^^

edit: Yes, I have a spare remote.

Usually the remotes are disabled while there is a key in the ignition.
