Sorry Guys

Post by Death_Dealer[CotC] »

Sorry i haven't been playing but my computer died on Friday. I have changed out everything (processor, memory, g-card, motherboard, cd-rom drive, hard drives) except for the my power supply, which leads me to believe it is my power supply that is bad. When I try to start my PC it gets to the windows load screen and flashes to a blue screen with an error message the only thing I can read is something abouth hardware failure, it flashes too quick. I run windows XP Pro. I hope to be up and running soon.

I've never seen a power supply cause that!
maybe bad RAM, or CPU... slim chance of a motherboard (but doubtful)...

Got the windows CD handy? Sounds to me like you're in store for a reinstall of the OS. I doubt any hardware swapping beyond what you've already done is going to tell you what's wrong.
Probably just a corrupt system file...

I am back in business. I reinstalled windows several times. But only after i replaced the power supply and reinstalled windows again did it work. Crazy but that worked. I went and looked at a bunch of reviews on my power supply and found most reviews to be negative. I lot of people said they fried there motherboards, g-cards, processors and memory do to very inconsistant voltage. I guess thats what you get when you spend a lot of money on something that is suposed to be top of line. Lucky me nothing got fried.

What brand/model of power supply was it?

Just so we'll all know what to avoid in the future 8)
