Stinking Apple!

Apple computers that is...

Their web site says:
Meet the world’s most advanced operating system. Again. Instantly find what you’re looking for. Get information in an instant with a single click. Mac OS X Tiger delivers 200+ new features which make it easier than ever to find, access and enjoy everything on your computer.
Anandtech discovered that Apple servers run mediocre with one user connection and will choke if you run MySQL with more than 5 connections. The problem seems to be due to the kernel being so poor at threading. Their OS also has a relativly high TCP latency. Which is a poor combination for a server that spends most of it's time threading requests and connecting to the network... Apple also claim 200+ features. Still, their 10.4.3 service pack fixes 500 bugs. 500?! And that is from the "most advanced operating system"???? How did those bugs get in there in the first place?! Hmmmm...

I just had to rant! Apple toot's their horn like they are a good solution to the PC and Windows, and you would think so too since they built their OS on top of BSD and they had significant input on the design of all the hardware too. So, how much more of a controlled enviornment would you a company need to build the best consumer product?! Is 6 years at it enough?! Because that's how long they have had OS X released. I'm sure it has been in development for at least 8 years. And it still has 500 bugs needing fixes?! How many more left?! I feel that they are following the same path to hell like they did with their Classic OS....

same path to hell as their classic os? maybe... but at least this os is far superior to say... os 9.x....and 8.x even....yuck... plus - even though the bugs may be a-plenty.. im sure they are still fewer in number than the ones that are currently 'out' for winxp or winme.. which is why i would still prefer a system such as a power ibook...or a mac mini... over a pc... IF... the mac mini had a microphone port on it. hehe (without that i couldnt use team speak. ;) )

well WinME is no longer a supported product, but yeah.

I spent a long while this summer dabbling with my grandfather's mac running OSX.. it blows, a lot. The number of times I sat there while the spinning little busy cursor kept going and going, even though it was doing nothing at all... or when OSX decided it knew what i wanted to do better than I did and wouldnt let me make choices for myself... Something as simple as where I want to save some photographs from the damn camera.

heh
