OK, I just finished playing the Demo of Total Rome and I love it. I need to get a better handle on grouping of units, if that is possible, as I don't care to search for them in-battle. It would be nice to be able to group them under numbers or something, perhaps that's possible.

As the demo is limited, what expanse of terrain is available with the full version, are the battlefields completely open? Can I flee to ground of my own choosing and draw you in? Can I hide behind hills and forests, if so I am all over you Red.

This is probably my next purchase as I would enjoy taking on a few head to head games. This could be very sweet.

Some battlefields are larger than others, and yes you can use hills and forests to your advantage, each type of terrain can provide bonuses or penalties to various units. The trick is, you can run and hide in various terrain, but if you're the attacker you lose if the time runs out, the timer can force your hand. The defender will try to stall the fight, outlast you, especially when outnumbered.

You can group units via the standard RTS controls of CONTROL+# to set the group and just # to recall the group, if I remember right -- been a while since I've played.
