Wondering if Battlefield 2 is worth the money, because i am thinking about buying it?

And if so is it better than the original?

I'd highly recommend it to anyone that could possibly ever be interested in a 'Battlefield' game... I'd like it even more, personally, though, if I could find a server that didn't constantly lag. I have YET (in the entire past week that I have been playing it, since it came out)... to find a server that doesn't lag to no end... :( (Other than that though - the game is AWESOME!!!)

It is totally fantastic.

And I ping to most servers in a super, fabulous low ping.

Wow. Did I suck tonight. I was totally not on. I did get 5 helo kills and three flag caps. One helo was full of troops, and I took it out with a stationary TOW. Hasta la vista.

I need an AH pilot who can hold the chopper a little on line while I use the video guided missles. And the chain gun.

I still only have the demo because I'm broke as a joke, but so far I'm loving the jets and helos!

Last night - I was the only one on my team alive, and we had no flags, and I was slowly parachuting down... the map was 'Clean Sweep'.. so there is a lot of water on it.. I am talking back and forth to the Commander on my team.. in-game.. the VoIP works great! I land in the water and start swimming towards the nearest enemy flag.. the Commander is telling people: "As soon as Serpent gets a flag, everyone spawn! We have to get a flag!". He tells me: "You're our last hope.. try and hurry." I get to within 200M, and guess what?!?! "You connection to the server has been lost." I was pissed!!!! That's when I knew it was time to give up last night, all together, since I couldn't do any good to anyone. lol

I like how you lead up to a good ending and then BAM - aint happenin'!

Dunno what's up with your connection dude, I don't have those problems here.

Can anyone tell me how you even use C4? Do you need to be a certain class or something?

Yes, gladly, it's my favorite.

C4 comes with the Special Forces KIT. You get around five C4 charges and a second power detonator. The trouble is that you can't switch between charges you plan to detonate. So once you've placed a charge, if you place a second, a third or all of them once you depress the trigger they all go off, no matter how far away you are from the C4 itself.

Some items take more than one charge. For instace, you can blow bridges, I thought it might require me to take our the pilons or superstructure but NO, just place them on the road, THREE mind you, and boom! Out goes the bridge.

I've experimented with C4 too. You can get bonus the damage by creating blast zones. Instead of packing one area spread them around in a killing zone so that the explosions overlap an area, then when you trigger the zone the whole area goes up, not just one flag or one vehicle, etc.

I've also discovered that the C4 will STICK TO ANYTHING. This includes planes and helos. It's possible to sneak into a base, attach some C4, and then wait for the craft to become airborne, THEN BOOM! This also works well with the Jeeps as I like to load all FIVE CHARGES into the Jeep and then drive it into an area or a tank, jumping out before it arrives, and then blowing the Jeep with my trigger from a distance.

But the most effective use for the C4 is on the UAV's, Artillery, and Radar devices the enemy commanders use. By sneaking into an enemy base all these installations can be destroyed, thus the enemy commander can't use artillery on you, a UAV, or radar until an engineer has repaired them, which they usually do. So I've been known to sneak into an enemy base, destroy these things, and then go hide. I request a supply drop, load up on C4 again or suicide and load up, and then wait for them to get fixed / AND OR destroy the equipment and REPLANT the C4 on the destroyed equipment, then wait from a distance for an enemy engineer to arrive.

Special Forces class is cool and I'd say it's my favorite. The Sniper is really good too, but the rifle is not powerful enough, so I've got to get another unlocked to increase the distance from target, right now it takes too many long shots, around three head shots to down a target. The high powered rifles that are locked could do this in one shot. That's when the sniper class would be useful....

I like engineer... as a commander, actually, its ideal, b/c ya, as Aide says... they get blown up (the structures most useful to a commander).. so as a commander.. be an engineer, so you can repair your own things... i like both engineer and medic... b/c you can for example... well, i did this today -

I was an engineer in a jeep.. had a guy in a tank in front of me (ally), and another behind me (ally)...and they were doing most of the fighting and i was just going along with the convoy to cap the next flag with them... and since I was an engineer...they were getting repaired (the tanks both in front and behind) as they got fired on... the repair radius is awesome. :)

Same with medic - anyone around you automatically heals.. and you can just stand by - anywhere - with your medical bag out, and ppl can come by and get healed... and you can throw down medical bags as you walk around... as well as actually bring them back to life. lol ;)

OH!!!! ...and the easiest ribbon to get as far as awards go, is the airborne one... go in a plane (or copter) REALLY REALLY high..and then parachute out... if you are high enough, all it takes is one or two jumps and by the time you are half way to the ground from your 2nd jump, you get an airborne ribbon award. lol

Sniper - I dont have much use for it - b/c as Aide notes... it takes forever to kill somebody, and that's not how I would like a sniper to be... he is a good shot, so he should be able to take somebody out with one hit. hehe

Special Forces - I haven't done as much with this, but from what I see, it's pretty cool with being able to blow bridges and whatnot up ... I have seen bridges blown up all over the place...and as an engineer I repair them. heeh its funny, seeing a group of guys or tanks waiting on a bridge to be repaired so they have to go around...and you walk up and repair it for your guys and you roll right across to take out the guys that are waiting on the repair in the first place. hehehehe

I am wondering if it is internet related, having to do with people in the area or something, b/c tonight I played for a good 3-4 hours solid - no problems AT ALL... even got my global score up to 256, which is what it is now...found out that when i finally get to 500, that is when i can finally unlock a new weapon. hehehe

I havent been able to play retail but during the initial demo I did notice some lag. I'm going to look back in history to the release of CoD:UO for an answer. I'm going to predict that people are running servers out there with the max players set way too high for the hardware on the server. When you find a server that gives you a solid night of lagless play, bookmark it in favourites. If you end up lagging on it later it may become more clear that its your side of things rather than the server side.

Maybe it's just the demo, but for me I've been playing for 2 days straight on about 15 or so servers. The most I've gotten is some lag for about 10 seconds and it never happened again.

And these are usually pretty full 32 and 64 player servers.
