HL2 on a laptop

Trying to get HL2 to run on this laptop but I am having a problem.

Here is the problem. I load up steam and I get the intro screen and everything. Then it tries to load up the main menu on hl2 and it just seems to freeze. Ctrl Alt Del doesnt do anything, only a hard reboot gets me out of this problem. Prior to loading hl2 I get this message "Your video card drivers seem to be out of date" Then it shows the card that is running and the current drivers installed. The system meets the minimum specs but is the video card too slow? I've also tried to update the current drivers given on the website, but the error still exists.

I am trying to run this on a P4 2.8ghz laptop with 512 mb of ram and a GeForce GO5200 FX.

Thanks for any ideas.

Mobile video cards are notorious for running into problems. Could try searching the Sierra Support site for info on that particular video card.
