Hmmm

I got Quake4 in the mail yesterday evening.

I beat it in 5 hours of playing time

that seems.. REALLY short to me

but oh well, decent game, and it stays true to the quake2 singleplayer experience rather well.

I'll have to buy a new video card and play it with some graphics detail turned on heh

Multiplayer?

Tell me about multiplayer stuff?

I am trying to decide how to apply my budgeted gaming cash, as in Cod2, AOE3, Quake 4, etc.

Serpent can weigh in on this too as I read he popped for several games at the same time, etc.

But what about multiplayer?

Also I am running a GeForce 5600 FX /256 and it's done nicely over the last year with these new games. Are you to turn on specific high end details and thingys...?

Ive got an old Radeon 9600 and had to turn darn near everything off myself.

As for multiplayer -- its quake 3 in a new prettier package. Its the same style of maps, with jumpy jumpy things all over so you have people leaping from floor to floor firing their rockets and such. I actually kinda liked Q3 multiplayer so I'm also liking Q4 a bit too. Its a fast-paced twitch game whereas a lot of the shooters coming out like CoD and DoD and whatnot have slowed the pace down and thrown "strategy" in.

I have a Radeon 9600 as well.. and I think I actually have a lot of stuff turned on as far as details, etc... go... actually, lemme go see....

I have bumpmaps, shadow, and secular turned to 'Yes' as far as options goes... and I have Video Quality set to Medium on the main graphics settings screen and my resolution is set to 8x6.... plays fine at these settings... was thinking of tweaking to add more details though... there is a setting in advanced video settings... that says 'High Details' or something to that affect... that I was thinking of trying. ;)
