I rode in one of those smart cars when I was in UK a few weeks back...
Can't say I really care for them!

Ahh the cars....
My daughter gives us crap for driving a 4x4 GMC pick up and a mid size SUV. And we can see her points. My 4x4 is needed for work and I don't know how many times I have used it to get in and out of messy job sites. My wife’s, we use to go to the cabin, excuse me but it is winter 6 mths of the year hear and try to negotiate large hills with turns with anything but 4wd. Also we live out of the city and commute.
Point 1. Sometimes a larger vehicle or non-economy vehicle is warranted.
Point 2. If you want and can afford the vehicle and the associated gas why not go for it.
Point3. For our kids sake and for the future of the world why not go to a fuel economy model? Some people do and I applaud their astuteness.
Point 3 is great but since the beginning of the century (except for a little blip in the 70's) almost everyone that can afford it, wants, and lot of them get, the transportation unit of their dreams. Those that can't afford it buy a 10 y/o + model. LOL.

I commute from my little town to the big city daily for work in an F150, and will be purchasing a small car ASAP because the gas is insane.
