Also, they're contollers are all wireless, and the system is built to use up to 7 players/controllers at one time!
To make things better, they're moving away from DVD's to make their games: They're using Blu-Ray!!!

It IS a ridiculous price.

However, bear in mind that Sony has not even released the final price yet. How could they? That is an estimate based off of the hardware they've said they'll be using.

You can find people who will estimate the price being between 500 and 1100. I think 800 makes a safe median.

In any case, anything above 200$ for a console is too much IMO.

$200 doesnt even pay for any single part inside the console system, let alone all the parts combined. Theyve gotten to the point where consoles are PCs, just without the software to allow them to be productive.

I wonder how much the bluray alone will add to the price tag ><

Blu-Ray scares the $%##@!! out of me.

Sony owns music and movie businesses. They have a strong interest to protect those media. And the recent root kits that they installed on certain music CD's reflect how strongly they are willing to tread on consumer rights to provide that copy protection. Blu-Ray is said to use at least three copy protection schemes, one of which will disable the drive. Possibly requiring you to have to take the drive to a technician and have them load a new firmware on the drive. Unlike DVD's which used a single CSS decryption key for the media, Blu-Ray will use keys per title, and sometimes multiple keys. And should a set of keys become pirated, Blu-Ray will require you to connect your drive to the Internet to download new keys to enable your media. Some people are even worried that the paranoia in copy protection will require new HD TV's with HDMI or DVI connections to prevent someone from simply recording the DVD video on an analog Component Video connection. Which completely screws the some 3,000,000 HDTV owners out of high-def.

I don't know, Between HD or Blu-Ray DVD's, which of the two evils I'm willing to allow in my house. Right now, I'm thinking neither. And I'll be sticking to my inferior DVD library for a while.

Industry experts perhaps! Merrill Lynch estimated the cost at $900 per unit to build. Sony would pass $800 of that cost to consumers and eat the $100 to be recouped in software sales.

i have to agree with Aide on this..i dislike all console game "games" they just dont have the same feel to them as do the PC games.take Counterstrike for instance, the console game is much slower in game play than the PC and you are limited with controls.ill stick with my crappy PC.

PC's need to be upgraded, maintenanced, etc. just to keep up with the developing enhancements to gaming. Consoles are one time deals that last through the next consoles, which is a good 3-6 years. Heck, I still have some old consoles from the early 90's (Super Nintendo, N64) and they're still really good. PC's need to be changed too much, and lot more costly in my oppinion

Just like Dark says:
PC's need to be upgraded, maintenanced, etc.
but with consoles, every time there is an upgrade.... "you can throw it away and go buy another one. Now that's convinience!" -Gus Sorola

I'm going with the revolution personaly, for a variety or reasons.

I like all of the nintendo games. ... well... most of them. Some did suck, but many (SSB, anything Zelda, Mario(the man), etc.) made big impressions on me. Much like a elephant sitting on a cardboard box.

I was slightly dissapointed with Microsoft's decision to make games exclusively for the 360, which pissed off my x-box (named Philburt) and me. Because of that decision, i have to wait for my wallet to flourish before i can play any of those nex-gen games... let alone but a 360. Damn you Bill!!!

Although, you cant blame Microsoft for their exorbant prices. They lose "mega bucks" yearly on the x-box (thats right! (for those of you who dont know) they LOSE MONEY!!!) and its all they can to do lessen the amount they lose.

I hope nintendo lives forever.... as it does in my heart.... *sniff*

I think Dark would see thins my way too if Sony didn't exist...

...which would of course lead me to say "This makes console the budget gaming system" - except for the huuuuge rise in console prices lately :(

My Sega Genesis still works..! Nothing beats Road Rash III :)

Yeah... Roughly 4/5 of my PS2 games are all RPGs. T_T

They don't make decent PC RPGs. NOT counting the D&D style ones... Oh, and the morrowind series... ah, and a few other I forgot to mention.

All right, they don't make very many decent PC RPGs. There.

PC is for MMORPG's, and even some of those aren't very good either. Most PC games you can find on consoles, some better, some worse, it all depends on how good the computer running it is.

RPG's are fun. But I tried Elder Scrolls III on Xbox... Found that I couldn't play it for too long before my kids realized that I was playing a game and they wanted to play too. At first I was telling them no, but then my wife ganged up on their side! No mercy. I bought Elder Scrolls IV for PC this time! They need more multi-player co-op RPG's for console systems.
