My brother is sending me a copy of Q4 and fear...I love little sister discount. Will have to get a new mb and processor......new video card wouldnt hurt. Gee so um a new pc basically
From what I hear people are having problems playing even with minimum requirements with Q4

I went by BestBuy and looked for a copy of Quake 4, they said pre-order people got theirs. But they wont sell retail games until tomorrow!

Good thing you didn't do the preorder. Everyone I know that did it basically paid $10 for the t-shirt (which was 1 size only) and most the Best Buys were saying Q4 hadn't even been shipped to arrive on the release date.

Serpent are you gonna play Q4 with me when I'm all set?
:)

Here's a nice link to check the min/max for lots o games and if you can run it

I'm good to go to play whenever......and it came out when it was supposed to... and I like the collector's edition b/c of not only the shirt - but also the expansion packs for quake 2 (even though it came w/ q2, too.. but i already had that)... since i didnt have them yet... they are all new q2 single and multi player maps for me. :)

....and q4 plays good for me. hehe

How's the expansion pack? Any good? Worth the price, or should I just get the standard edition?

UGH, my computer failed the CPU speed, RAM size, and video card test for recomended Battlefield 2 playing, and I failed the CPU for minimum requirments too

AND DANG, I compeletly bombed the Quake 4 test!!!!

Still though, taking out that 128 MB RAM chip and putting in a 512 chip really made a difference... I still need a new computer. :x :x :x :x

Is there anything my computer won't fail???

I'm a huge q2 fan, b/c of the graphics... especially compared to q1 - even though I'll never get over the awesome grappling hook of q1. ;)... so I love the expansion packs for q2 (the reckoning and ground zero).. especially since they both offer variants to the famed dm map 'The Edge'... among others.. and a lot more coop maps.. which I like.. since you can't play coop in q3 or q4... :(... so personally, I'd say my buy was well worth it... but .. to each his own.. hehe ;)

Funny thing that sysreqlab site ....

FAIL: Sorry, your video card does not meet this minimum requirement. Upgrade to a more powerful video card will make all your applications look better. Click the 'We Recommend' button to see some great options.

FAIL: Sorry, your computer does not have enough Free Disk Space to meet this minimum requirement. Maybe it's time to buy another hard drive. Click 'We Recommend' to get all the disk space you need.

----------------------------

minimum requirement for video cards is ati radeon 9700+...but I have a 9600... talk about picky! LOL!... game runs great though. hehehe... and I only have a couple gb free right now...so I guess it's time to delete some stuff.. so I could care less about that fail message, since I already have the game installed anyway. ;)

(this is all re: q4 requirements... not even recommendations)

I noticed it tells me i fail for HD space, even though i have like 30GB free, simply because my C drive only has windows installed on it and so i kept it nice and small heh.

it only checks C for free space :P

Alright....I'm far into the game now have the blaster, machine gun, shotgun, hyperblaster, rocket launcher, railgun, lightning gun, grenade launcher, and nailgun... the more powerful weapons like the railgun, RL, and lightning gun are pretty cool... but....

I can take a lot of violence in games... as a matter of fact... it's how I vent out frustrations and anger - by killing monsters, etc.. but .... I don't like horror movies, and well... this game... reminds me of a horror movie except worse - it has more blood and gore than any game I have ever played... almost sickened me enough so that I stopped playing altogether... but I want to see the last weapon I don't have... the 'dark matter gun'... to see what kinda damage it can do.. and I want to finish what I started... but man.. there is some SICK stuff in this game... men laying on a conveyor belt...rolling along... having hooks stabbed into their backs at which point they are hung... carried along by the hook some more... ... ick....

That sounds pretty disturbing. FEAR has a lot of blood in it too. So I would have the camera look away when my kids were around. But this game was meant to be scarey. Mostly it's gore was suggestive, but there was times where a grenade would sever a limb or cause decapitation. Some of the in-game movies were real bad...

But, any way, I'm back to the happier times in Serious Sam 2 now. I don't mind blowing apart a giant mechinical spider or a half-beast/half-tank guy. Heck, I came to one level where you had to fight a dragon to get the princess that he kidnapped back. Only, she was real ugly, and they dragon got mad because you wouldn't rescue her! And so the fight ensues. Now, thats funny to me! :)

Still can't get enough of "Armed and Dangerous". Now that's a funny game, and fun too.
