There is no justice

Post by M4v3r1ck »

So I had the idea the other day to get COD 4 and went down to the local Walmart to pick it up. Not one copy in the store. Then I remembered someone on here saying that you could buy it online. So I went to a site and found it for sale in downloadable format. The thing I don't understand.... well the thing that pisses me off is that if I live in the US it will cost me 49.99 to dl it. However as soon as I indicate that I am from Canada the price shoots up to 5 bucks. Now I'm not gonna let 5 bucks stop me from downloading the game, but geez.... last I looked our dollar was stronger than the USD. What gives eh?

Damn crooks!

umm... actually it still is worth more. albeit a small amount... actually a very small amount but in terms of numbers it is still worth more.

1 USD = 1.0007 CAD

but even still.... if it is even at best then why is there a price difference????

There is generally a transaction fee when converting currencies with CCs. Not usually $5.00 though.

When I use my CC in euroope, I get a exchange rate + international use fee.

what mav is talking about is simply the markup the retailers are adding to the price simply because we are Canadian customers, and then all the currency exchange fees get added on top of that!

This is especially noticable in car purchases, where Canadians can pay 25% extra for the exact same car -- and now American car dealers are prohibited from selling to Canadians so that we can't get around it :P

I like to call it the "hidden tax" Canadians get to pay since we are so priveledged to live in snow 8 months of the year....

Lucky. All I've gotten here is the stuff that comes and goes and leaves everything cold. Not enough snow to warrant it being so cold.

You are 100% right in all your statements.
