My boss was willing to give me a deal on co-location cost, but $100/month to house server here is too much for me/us. Although a guaranteed big pipe of a connection, and on generator backup power, its hard to cover that cost.
I'm bringing the server box home. I will either try to convince my wife that running two PC boxes 24/7 shouldn't cost too much more for electrical use, or I will have to look into cost to ship it back to KD in the US to hook on his cable connection.

Well that sucks... but I am thankful that you were able to host it there as long as you did!
You can feel free to ship it back to me if you want. I just moved though so I won't get my cable connection back for another couple of weeks.
Plus I do know that cable\dsl companies tend to monitor their connections so that people like us don't run servers on them. Just ask Neo...
I may be able to run it past my boss to see if I could colo it at my work if I give them something like $50 a month. There's only a 3mb connection there though but it would be on a UPS\Generator there.

I'll test the waters here. My connection should be quite sufficient. I don't have anyone monitoring what I do or do not host/run on my connection. I'm looking into purchasing a UPS backup at least, to power for a good half hour if we get brown outs. Even the additional electricity will still be less than $50/month.
