AMD (gamer's favorite CPU) acquires ATI for a cool $5.4 Billion. Says, GPU's will be integrated into CPU's in 2 years.

this is my favorite combo......ati and amd.....thats awesome.
i have onboard nvidia chipset, etc...b/c my mobo is that... with an amd cpu, but i have a seperate ati radeon that i am actually using. lol

NR, I suspect that an on-board chip is the target market that this goal will break in to. With MS Windows Vista and the Aero interface, you need a really robust GPU to run the GUI. This isn't present in chipset based graphics on mobo's today. And instead of asking Nvidia to bundle a more expensive GPU on the chipset AMD can combine the GPU into the CPU and provide these features. This puts pressure on Intel since they do not have a chipset which can run Aero yet. When you buy a computer in a few years Athlon will have a clear advantage over Pentium.

Now, if they would just stop using the stupid 4600+ clock performance ratings!

I've trusted ATI ever since I bought my first vid card, and it's still here too! 128MB ATI Radeon 9600-XT!! It may be 3 years old, but ran everything!! And to make things better, when I bought that video card, it came with, free downloads of ALL the valve games at the time, up to CSS and HL2. I own 13 valve games, non-demo ones thx to ATI!!

ditto, i used the ati bundle offer when i first got stuff via steam. hehee... and now i have two steam accounts with everything valve has done...except one thing and that is hl2:ep1...which i only have on one accnt. hehe
