Looking forward
Fair warning: This is not a political post, just the future as I see it.
If people start flaming, I will ask the moderators to remove the entire
thread. So please be respectful to each other.
Democrats 2008. Hillary Clinton will not be nominated. If chosen
anyway, she will not win and the Democrats can be written off for
another 4 - 8 years. Otherwise, the line consists of Al Gore,
Mark Warner, and John Edwards. My bet is on the former governer
of Virginia --- Warner, you tourist!
Republicans 2008. D_i_c_k Cheney will retire due to health reasons
IMHO immediately after the midterm elections in 2006, which the
Republicans will win. Whoever replaces him will automatically be
the front runner. This will not stop John McCain from winning
the nomination though. If McCain is nominated, he will
be the next president. Otherwise the line consists of Frist, Giuliani
and Romney. My bet is on McCain.
In Nov 2008, the Republicans will fracture, unable to reconcile
McCain to the extreme right wing. But a substantial number of
Democrats will change party to vote for McCain as someone
who can unify the country, which will make this election a
horserace.
Between Warner and McCain politicaly, I don't think I could tell
them apart at 20 paces even with my glasses on. I think the
USA will do well with either choice.

For not being a political post, it looked pretty political! OK, "future history".
I will try the approach I suggested before.
Please use some other forum to discuss politics. The discussion of politics is painful for many of this clan, as evidenced in the archives. If not for the clan, then me personally.
Thank you for considering it.

Point taken. For the record, let me say that I neither encourage nor
particularly wish that anyone respond to this thread. I am not
trolling. It is not how I wish the future will be; it is only
what my analysis indicates the future will be, barring unforseen
events. Think of it as a "You heard it here, first" type of post, and
feel free to move on without comment or contest if the subject is
painful or without merit to any reader.
Careful Data, I think the last see the future post you had was Kerry was the next President!Dataspel wrote:Nemesis said:

BTW, I didn't vote on the non-political thingy. Maybe we should have a politicl/religion/conspiracy forum section that is non-public, and check your ego at the door.

Re: Looking forward
I feel that the country is pretty well divided between Democrat and Republican ideals. Should Hillary be nominated, I feel that she stands a good chance at winning! The Democrats would automatically select her. And there's a lot of women in this country, and I don't count them out in packing together. Collecting at least half the votes up front leaves a few more key areas for her to push the win over the 50% mark to gain Presidency. Her past in education and health would win swing votes from those citizens. And the remaining swing voters would select her to become the first lady president to simply break the nation's history of selecting men for president.Dataspel wrote:Fair warning: This is not a political post, just the future as I see it.

Now, I'm not going to argue if she's the best choice. I'm simply stating my opinion on what the voter turn out may look like.

I think that you have hit upon the problem. Some folks cannot seem to let things lie without comment. And for them, there is no pain at all. Which is why it is probably best not to have the discussions to begin with.Dataspel wrote: Think of it as a "You heard it here, first" type of post, and

I like the idea of a separate political forum. Call it "Flamers' Corner" or something. Then, I could request of Akira to not have access, and "poof", no more political posts!
Sort of an "opt-out" kind of thing. Hmmm. No voting required. No problem with egos - you set foot in there, and it's a free-for-all. A "Use at your own risk" sort of thing!
Maybe Aide and Akira could be persuaded...

I can see Hillary getting the democratic nomination... in fact I saw it when Bush was reellected I wouldn't be surprised if she got it... but I will be scared if she does make it to presidency
I really don't think Al Gore will try to run again simply because he already ran once and lost, and I don't really know off the top of my head if ever in the history of the US someone try to run again when they've lost once already... It's possible
I like Edwards, he seems like a strong person that can fit the position well...
I wonder... who do they have as nominees for the republicans? I know very little about them at this point

To Nemesis:
I think this thread is actually a bit different from your normal "political issue" because instead of throwing out our oppinions at each other, we are instead informing each other of our future possible options for president in 2 years. Speculation is not the same as debating and flaming.
I almost fogot, wasn't MaCain mixed up in the presidency run too somewhere? I keep hearing his name...

What do you mean? for the past 3 elections Nader has been running. He lost each time, but he never gives up.I really don't think Al Gore will try to run again simply because he already ran once and lost
Just shows his determination... even if nothing comes of it.
