Just finished ... talk about an ending ... I am not sure what I am pissed at more -- the way this episode ended, or the fact that there is going to be no more to the story for a while. heh.. Gotta wonder - are Gordon and Alyx dead or what? ..and how slow was that train to be caught by the blast.. or is it just that the blast was so massive it expanded fast? heh..

Also - gotta love the good doctor for broadcasting such an out-of-character type of message for him. lol.. lets repopulate the planet. heheh
I played for an hour or so last night, but are you saying you are completely through the whole episode? Man I love it so far, would hate to think that it is that short! I even played the original right through again (on difficult) just to refresh my brain with the story and my skills.
A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week. A pint of sweat, saves a gallon of blood. No poor bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other bastards die for their country.

It's that short! Yup. About the same as a whole level in the regular HL2. (Level meaning a whole sequence of maps, like the Prison or Beach levels.) If you're an hour into it, I'd guess that you're half-way through it! It follows the story but leaves you hanging like Valve did in HL2. If you're a fan of Half-life 2 it's worth a look. But I think it should have been priced at $9.99... Valve must have been hungry when they made this level.

Agreed, the price is a bit much for the content.... maybe $14.99 or so.. and I wanna know when episode 2 is coming out so we can find out about the train crash that you see in the 'Coming Soon' clip... that shows scenes from episode 2 ....you go to new game then click next then its the last one on the right...

Some of the people in the Steampowered forums say that the clip plays at the end of the game. I think I canceled it when the guy with the weird eyeball poped up. I thought it was the game and not a movie. So I missed it the first time. You can also watch it again by the file:

D:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\<your>\half-life 2 episode one\episodic\media\Ep2_Teaser.wmv

Yeah, episode 2 looks good! I bet the part with Alex is right after the train crash. I like this frequency, not having to wait 3 years for a next chapter is nice.

Well done. Great game but for $20 bucks, not worth it. Will I get the next in the series when it comes out, probably, now that I am hooked. Crap

OH btw, here is Alex in real life:

Agreed on all counts.

That's cool about Merle's website!! But, is it just me or is her site kind of fubar'ed? I wanted to see if it was her voice used for Alyx, or just her likeness, but her website seems like it's a little undermaintained. I couldn't launch any video's, and it sounded like there was some script error when I tried.

Oh, BTW!!!

After you beat HL2:E1, go into the sound options and turn on the commentary track. You'll get little chat icon's in the game where if you use one, you'll hear the Valve team talking about certain parts of the game. It makes the replay value a little more welcoming. It's sort of a behind the scenes look that you get on DVD's. I think that it is a very cool little feature!

This site indicated that she was the voice actor for the character.

Yeah, thanks Barron, I should have stated that. I had verified that as well before I posted.
