Steam Error

.exe (main exception): unable to start steam engine: *steamstartengine(0x12e8c8) failed with error 200: connection reset, winsock error 10054 "connection reset by peer"

That's the Error my cousin's getting when he trys to start steam. He's unistalled and reinstalled everything from steam to HL2 and all mods in between. Anyone have any idea what to do?

found very little info on the steam forums...

The error means when it was connecting to the Steam server to check for updates the server disconnected/reset the connection before the data was tranferred. My guess would be the server was too busy to handle your request. Trying again later might be your only option if it is not a networking issue on your end.

Another possibility is you have misconfigured firewall or router or your ISP is having problems.

Maybe have him try submitting a support ticket...

all I was finding was that it was a firewall issue too. Stream finally randomly restarted for him last night so he's gonna avoid restarting his PC for a while. He has to reupdate everything now tho sadly.

Yeah, that error comes up or it tells me I can't connect to steam because im not connected to the internet. But I was, because I was IMing my cousin.
